In 2027, San Marino for the Children ONLUS will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding, which took place in 2007. We have chosen to mark this important milestone not simply as an anniversary, but as an opportunity to encourage reflection and help raise greater awareness of the inequalities that continue to shape our world today.
This is how “UBUNTU” came into being: a photographic exhibition featuring images taken in Malawi, telling stories through faces, lives and situations marked by poverty, vulnerability and marginalisation.
Malawi is the starting point of this journey, but it is neither its sole focus nor the limit of its meaning.
Indeed, the exhibition is not intended as a fundraising initiative, nor does it seek to focus on the activities of our Association. Its purpose is broader: to use photography as a tool to raise awareness of poverty, inequality, human dignity and fundamental rights, offering visitors an opportunity to reflect on some of the major issues addressed by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
We chose the name UBUNTU because it expresses a vision of humanity in which each of us is part of a larger community, and in which one person’s dignity cannot be separated from the dignity of others.
The exhibition will be presented to the public for the first time in February 2027, in the Republic of San Marino.
